FOR HIGHLAND PARK
Mayor Nancy Rotering is Focused on Getting Results
Nancy is a working mom, who knows how to build consensus to get things done. As Mayor, Nancy took on the status quo, holding government accountable to taxpayers and challenging the system to make it work better for the people it serves.
Nancy has focused on bringing businesses to Highland Park, adding jobs and rebuilding our tax base. She is passionate about preserving Highland Park’s high quality of life, putting in new sidewalks, resurfacing miles of city roads, and improving human services for retirees and children.
Under Nancy’s leadership, budgets have been balanced and Highland Park has consistently maintained its Aaa bond rating.
Working with the Highland Park Public Schools
A product of Highland Park public schools, Nancy has worked in and with our schools. Recognizing that our students are our future leaders, Nancy has taken an active role in providing students with unique learning experiences, holding mock City Council meetings at City Hall with all Highland Park third graders, creating a K-8 environmental advocacy program, and appointing high school students to positions on City Commissions.
Holding ComEd Accountable
When a series of storms left Highland Park without power for days, Nancy led the fight to hold ComEd accountable. She demanded they appear before a series of public hearings, ultimately resulting in major equipment upgrades that have significantly reduced power outages.
